Frequently Asked Questions
Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is an innovative printing method that involves printing designs onto a special transfer film, which is then transferred onto various fabrics using a heat press. This method allows for vibrant, detailed, and durable prints on a wide range of materials, including cotton, polyester, blends, leather, and more.
A DTF gang sheet is a large sheet of transfer film that contains multiple designs printed on it. This method is efficient and cost-effective, as it maximizes the use of transfer material, reduces waste, and streamlines the production process. Gang sheets are ideal for printing multiple designs simultaneously, making them perfect for bulk orders.

To apply DTF transfers, follow these steps:
- Prepare your garment or material by ensuring it is clean, dry, and wrinkle-free.
- Preheat your heat press to the recommended temperature of 315F degrees.
- Position the transfer film on the fabric with the printed side facing down.
- Remember there are many brands of presses on the market. We suggest 315F @ medium-firm pressure. Checking the accuracy of your presses temperature can be accomplished by using Thermolabel sourced from Amazon. Your presses pressure follow the manufactures instructions to reach Medium-Firm pressure.
- Press the garment with medium-firm even pressure @ 315F for the recommended time (usually 12-15 seconds).
- Hot Peel: Immediately after press has opened peel transfer quickly off apparel in a smooth steady motion.
- Cold Peel: Immediately after press has opened remove apparel from press platen placing it to side to cool. Some customers peel slowly while others peel fast. If you choose to peel slowly, you don't have to necessary peel in a smooth steady motion. If you are peeling fast we have found a smooth steady motion usually works well.
- Perform a final press with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper for 15-20 seconds to ensure durability.
DTF transfers are versatile and can be applied to a wide range of fabrics, including 100% cotton, polyester blends, denim, leather, satin, and more. This versatility makes DTF transfers suitable for various custom projects and apparel.
